ARTIST STATEMENT
“When We Grow Up” speaks to the relationship between sport, nature, and the human condition. A major theme in much of our work is nature and our place in it. Our design aims to draw parallels between Environment and Sport.
A healthy environment is essential and creates growth in both the natural world and the human soul. The charge of competitive spirit is represented by the lightning. The trees, once saplings will stand tall among their peers and become a nurturing forest symbolic of our children who will grow to be healthy adults in the proper environment which we believe sport plays a major role in.
You may also see a trees growth rings, water elements and sonic waves, all symbolic of life and energy. We hope that our vibrant and multi faceted mural brings excitement to the community and brings more people out to engage with it and deepen their relationship with sport and each other
